Studio 30

Jacqueline Christians - Painting

Jacqueline is a painter but also uses drawing, mixed media and printmaking in her works. She uses acrylic paint on canvas, also uses oil pastel or graphite or ink pigments on paper. With these mediums she explores texture, light and colour. There is a fauvist influence with saturated colours and rich contrasts in her work. Her early art training was in fineart and she then studied at CIT and has had a lifelong career in graphic design.

Her studio perched on the hill is custom built with timber lining and leafy views over the garden below. Paints and working materials are displayed, with colour charts to reveal her favorite combinations. The drawing board shows a working oil pastel to demonstrate on. Landscape and still life paintings for sale in the marquee gallery and archived gems are found in the painting racks where you can see the evolution of her style.

Parking Instructions: On street parking.

From the Artist

I make art as a compulsion, a yearning. As a creative I often wake with images in my head, and have multiple works in progress, so the studio calls me in daily. I have a deep love for this country, when I paint I aim to capture that feeling I experience of place. Landscapes, botanica and birds are themes of inspiration and figures are emerging in my work as a reflection on my personal connection to nature.
