MaryLin Litchfield - Abstract Artist

MaryLin is an emerging abstract artist working in the Dandenong Ranges of Naarm, Melbourne. Each painting begins with marks on paper, canvas or wood, evolving into rhythmic forms, aesthetic surfaces and colours. Her paintings resonate with luminosity and energy, reflecting the profound human connection with nature. Her art is infused with the inner delight in painting in the abstract!

Walking along the long driveway towards the exhibition space, the viewer experiences the immense mountain ash trees which so inspire MaryLin. These marvellous denizens of the mountain ranges form an amazing background to her art practice, ever present and ever alive. This incredible tapestry of nature continues to inspire and enrich her art practice with its unfolding beauty and resonance. Enjoy!

From the Artist

Each artwork begins with a single expressive mark and tells my story of emotion, joy, struggle and resolution through colour, gesture and rhythmic form. I paint in acrylic, gouache and oil and so enjoy abstract expressionism as a style to aspire to. As an art educator and artist, my work incorporates looking at the natural and human world as one.
